Speak Up Sesh

It has been an absolutely jam-packed few days of new releases for fans of anime and video games, and we’re still not even through the week yet!

  • Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave came out on September 17!

    Technically, this is last week, but I didn’t get the chance to mention it in my newsletter. This is a massive epic of a Fire Emblem game, and because of everything it tries to do in one game, it can be a polarizing entry. While I do have genuine complaints about it (the auto-save that you can’t turn off meaning that mistakes require restarting the entire chapter to undo, as well as character scenes or paralogues being very easy to miss), it’s been great and addicting fun.   • Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter came out on September 17!
    Again, like Fortune’s Weave, this happened last week. This is the sequel to the first Trails remake, and it’s gotten high, favorable reviews from both critics and users, according to Metacritic. Obviously, you should play the first one before this one, as it contains major spoilers for it. If you’re not sure if this one’s for you, you can play the demo. Your save file here carries over to the game proper should you decide to purchase it!

  • Zach Creggar’s Resident Evil came out on September 18!
    As of September 22, the movie’s made a worldwide total of $123.3 million. Without mincing my words, the more famous series that most people imagine when they hear the words “Resident Evil movie” were essentially a collection of self-insert Mary Sue fanfiction. They focused on Alice, an original character who is so cool and so strong that she usually takes the action sequences from established franchise characters like Jill. This can be explained by Milla Jovovich playing Alice, and her husband, Paul W.S. Anderson writing and directing most of these movies.

    Creggar’s adaptation is closer to the experience of playing Resident Evil, making them more familiar for players of the series. Because of this, the movie can have a more comedic tone rather than a straightforward horror. However, considering how cheesy Resident Evil can be, that might not be a bad thing.

  • Dressmaker came out on September 21!
    This was a genuine surprise for me, as I completely forgot about it! It’s surprisingly accurate to actual dress-making, and it’s a nice, relaxing game to chill out with. Steam is actually offering a bundle that contains Dressmaker and Paralives for the ultimate cozy weekend gaming session, if that’s what you’re into! As a reminder, Paralives is a new life simulator game, and you can check out our preview of it here.

  • Silent Hill: Townfall came out on September 24!
    Yes, by the time this newsletter reaches you, you, too, can be the proud owner of Silent Hill: Townfall. It’s a much more stealth-focused entry than Silent Hill f or even Silent Hill 2 Remake, as you have minimal ways to safely combat the creatures roaming the Scottish town of St. Amelia. Not for the faint of heart! This one is really spooky scary compared to those ones thanks to that.

  • Second batch of Steel Ball Run will drop on Netflix on September 25!
    Remember Steel Ball Run? The highly-anticipated seventh part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure? Well, it’s coming back on Friday with some new episodes! It’ll drop early in the morning at 1:00 AM PDT/4:00 AM EDT, and the second batch of episodes will get into the race proper now that viewers are familiar with the Steel Ball Run, as well as the main players in the race. Unlike how Netflix’s batch release for Stone Ocean would drop all the episodes at once, it will release Steel Ball Run on a weekly schedule. It’ll be a glorious return to form with JoJo Fridays.
