Hello, everyone, and welcome to yet another newsletter from Siliconera! From this week, we’ll be opening up a giveaway! 2024 is winding to a close, meaning it’s time for plenty of retrospectives on anime and games that came out this year. There were so many strong releases that it sometimes feels like they weren’t even that new! Like Persona 3 Reload and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth were both at the very beginning of the year. Somehow, I always forget they were this year just because so many other awesome stuff came out afterwards. Anime was the same, too, though I personally haven’t been keeping up with anything other than Dandadan. Everything else I want to watch is either coming out next year, or came out years prior. Oopsies!

By the way, for those who don’t know, there’s a sale on Steam right now! Tons of cool titles from this year and previous ones are available at a crazy discount. For example, I just bought about six different games for only $100, which sounds crazy (especially since I’m talking about CAD). But hey, at normal pricing, two of these games might’ve cost me $100. This winter sale will go on until January 2, 2025. So take this as a sign to get that game you wanted, or try that game you’ve been interested in. Treat yourself.

Incidentally, some of the games I got were Tyrion Cuthbert, Va-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action, and The Divine Speaker. I’ve heard great stuff about all three, but never had the chance to try them out. As for my recommendations for games that are on sale right now, I’d suggest: Gnosia, Mouthwashing, Dave the Diver, and Lorelei and the Laser Eyes. Lorelei, in particular, would make a great party game depending on you and your friend group, because solving the puzzles together is so much more fun than struggling through them yourself.

6. Persona Series Producer Wada Explained Why Protagonists Are Male - To be honest, I personally think this is a nonsensical answer considering the P2 and P3. But it explains a lot about Atlus’s decisions from Persona 4 forth. I guess bildungsromans are just an exclusive genre for males. Who knew?

7. Dynasty Warriors Origins’ Yuanhua Is Based on Hua Tuo - History nerds unite!

8. Sony Increased Its Kadokawa Stock Acquisition to 10% - Yeah, I know business news might not be the most interesting stuff to read, but we should still stay on top of monopoly news…

9. Trails in the Sky the 1st Switch, PS5, and PC Release Window Set - The new gameplay trailer looks so good! I’m sure this remake will entice lots of new fans into the Trails series (including myself).
