‘Tis the night before TGS, when all through the house…all the news are still coming in! There are lots of new excitements for games on the horizon, and even more on the way. Level-5 received particular interest from people, likely because they sure have a lot of games they’re making, yet no actual release dates from either of them.

Heck, let’s look at Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road for example. Level-5 announced that game as Inazuma Elven Ares back in 2016 and it was supposed to come out in 2018. The Ares no Tenbin anime even started airing to promote it. Well, Ares no Tenbin ended and then Orion no Kokuin started, and then Orion no Kokuin ended…but with no new game on any platform. Then, it turned into Great Road of Heroes and it was supposed to come out in 2020. Then it got delayed to 2021. Then it got delayed to 2024. Level-5 is even holding a tournament for Victory Road, except they all have to play the beta version because the game isn’t actually out yet! Beta versions of it sure look good, but there are still a lot of issues like game balance to work out. Here’s hoping that Level-5 will announce a proper release date at TGS!

Inazuma Eleven is one of those series’s kind of difficult to introduce to people. On paper, it’s absolutely bonkers. The level of ridiculousness gets so high as the series goes on that summoning penguins to help you score a goal is no longer that unfathomable. I mean, the kids travel through time to meet legendary figures like Oda Nobunaga and Jeanne d’Arc, only to use them as Stands or Hyoi Gattai in Shaman King so that they can play soccer better. Penguins are normal compared to that. If you ignore all the nonsense though, I find the characters super cute and charming though! They’re really fun so I can understand why there fans can still get into it when they’re older, or why kids who grew up with it have such fond memories of the series. It’s pretty peak if you’re willing to sit through hundreds of episodes of “soccer.”

Speaking of nostalgia, Grave of the Fireflies will be back! There are some people who haven’t heard of this one before, if my Twitter timeline is any indication. Like Barefoot Gen, it’s one of those movies that people think should be shown in schools for younger generations to remember and understand the harrowing effects of nuclear war. Disregarding parents who might object to that, I honestly think it’s a pretty good idea if only because movies are a great learning tool in school. One of the most popular teachers back in my high school was the type who would show us movies and his classes were the easiest to remember. It’s a lot easier to view what happened at Hiroshima and Nagasaki as a proper atrocity if they can see what happens after an atomic bomb is dropped versus merely reading about it or looking at numbers.

Well, that’s all for today! See you next week!
